The South Burnett Pantry (The Pantry) was born in 2012 out of a concern for the people of the South Burnett who could use some help meeting living expenses. Concerned community members started The Pantry with loaned fridges and freezers, and other equipment, vehicles, trailers and, most importantly, time and energy to ensure the enterprise could start helping the wider community and broader needs.
Members of the Pantry have a heart to support others in need, lending a listening ear and helping people connect with appropriate health and welfare agencies. Over the past years we have grown through successful grant applications and support from the local council, local businesses, churches, service groups and individuals. We operate mainly through cost recovery and the generous support of a great volunteer group who contribute many hours each week to ensure we can help those in need.
